Volunteering.

Gardens Swimming Club is a volunteer organisation. We rely on our volunteers to successfully run meets, club nights and events, for fundraising and sponsorship and for club administration.

Timekeeping

All families participating in a meet will be given timekeeping duties unless they are engaged in other duties, for example officiating. Timekeeping slots are allocated and the roster emailed out to attendees prior to meets. Allocations for the last time slots of the day are given to families whose children are swimming in the last events as per the program. It is requested that timekeepers refrain from using mobile phones whilst timekeeping so that they are taking note of how many laps the swimmer has done and they are ready to finish the race with the plunger/dolphin/stopwatch.

Committee

The Gardens Committee welcome newcomers and are always in need of more hands to manage the day to day administration of the club. If you have something you can offer or would simply like to help out please let a member of the committee know or contact the secretary at gardens_secretary@hotmail.com

Club Nights and Swim Meets

There are many duties required for swim meets and club nights. The success of these events relies heavily on our volunteers. Some of the duties required for meets and club nights include timekeeping, check starting, starting, BBQ and kitchen. A detailed description of each position required for meets and club nights can be found here

Gardens Swimming Club hosts both a short course and long course meet each year. A request for assistance is sent out to members prior to this event and the more assistance from parents, means a more successful meet for our kids.

Officiating

Swimming North Queensland train and support technical officials for the North Queensland region. North Queensland technical officials are highly trained and can often be seen officiating at local, state, National and international meets. More information regarding becoming a technical official can be found on the Swimming Australia Website or by contacting snqtechnical@gmail.com.
